I “lost” three credit cards in an unexpected way yesterday afternoon.
I was too hurry to report the credit cards loss, the three cards—GDB/SDB/CMB, respectively, turned out to be there actually, just in the purse I got as a gift from Shenzhen Book Center after buying two books on Hong Kong with the total price surpassing ¥50.
Those banks won't return the fees involved in reporting credit card loss, so the stupid thing I did yesterday just cost me ~¥100 each on average. Let me tell the specific number: GDB(Guangdong Development Bank), ¥85, the ¥25 EMS fee was canceled later as they told me the replacement card category is currently short of certain material and couldn’t be made & delivered in a soonest manner; SDB(Shenzhen Development Bank), ¥95; CMB(China Merchants Bank), ¥80. The latter two costs both include the ¥20 EMS fee, which made GDB’s service more disappointing.
I never thought GDB would be so awful. The relatively higher cost it charges compared to other banks this time is still ok for me, as the usual fees offered by this Guangzhou-based bank are generally cheaper than most banks; all I wanna blame is that it’s just too quick to OK the card loss report, even without my firm confirmation. I first reported the loss of this GDB credit card, and got confused at which address the replacement card should be mailed to, then I told the service girl I’d do the loss report later after I got the detailed address from my friend in Shenzhen. Guess what? The moment I hang off the phone, I received a text message from 95508 saying my report had been accepted and the new card would be mailed soon…
I was almost mad and called the GDB immediately, this time is a service guy answering. The poor guy became my “trash can”, I just expressed all my anger and disappointment to him, in a rather unpleasant tone. In the middle of the “talk”, I got a call from 020-95508, the GDB credit card woman on the other side of the phone apologized to me for any inconveniences caused but maintained that the cost once charged wouldn’t be reimbursed. Feeling I’m on the edge of desperation, she jokingly said the replacement card would be better-looking than the old one, lol, did I once mention the credit card appearance to the bank? Or the bank itself thinks its olympics credit card series are not beautiful enough?
Frankly speaking, GDB was not that wrong. My GDB credit card doesn’t require password in transaction, so if the card is really stolen or picked up by others the loss on me will be doomed and dear. I was just too anger and frustrated then, and here I should apologize to the poor service guy, who listened to all my harsh remarks and still spoke in a gentle tone.
On the metro back to Luohu, I realized all the blame, or shame, should be on me actually. I’m just such a careless, forgetful and stupid person!
The three cards won’t be functional anymore, but I’ll keep them, to remind of this absurd story of mine. I will get three replacement cards soon, if you ask me whether I’m looking forward to that I’d give a definite “NO”.
